INTRODUCTION

The Mānuka Face Oil has been designed to create a protective barrier against harmful environmental toxins while healing and nourishing your skin. It features the anti-microbial and cleansing mānuka oil as well as kawakawa-infused sweet almond oil. Mānuka oil is well known for its ability to deeply cleanse the skin and treat inflammation.

Combined with hydrating and antioxidant-rich oils — jojoba, blackcurrant and grapeseed — this face oil can be used daily. An incredible formulation that truly nourishes and protects the skin.

USAGE

Every morning and evening, massage into freshly cleansed and toned skin. Alternatively, blend with the Mānuka Honey Day Cream to intensify hydration.

INGREDIENTS

The potent antibacterial and antifungal activity of mānuka oil is due to the vast range of terpenoids that have shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria and fungi. Studies have shown mānuka oil is 30x more effective than tea tree oil and is considered to be one of the most potent natural disinfectants on the planet. Macropiper Excelsum, better known as Kawakawa, is incredibly healing. Research shows that it decreases inflammatory markers of nitric oxide as it possesses the bioactive constituents Myrsitcin and Diayangambin, which are anti-inflammatory.

DID YOU KNOW?

Aotea was founded in 2017. Inspired by mātauranga māori (māori knowledge), this knowledge manifests itself in their range of therapeutic skincare. Their namesake, Aotea, is the māori name for Great Barrier Island where they are from. It is there that they grow all the native flora that is used in Aotea’s range, extract the active compounds and use these healing extracts for the key tenants in their products.

Aotea has a commitment to their values and culture which are the pillars for their business. In light of which, they have elected — despite the difficulty — to manufacture the entire range of products on their papakāinga (land). This allows them to create jobs in their community. Further, they are proud to be providing scholarships to their rangatahi māori on Aotea to attend high schooling in Auckland, as there is no high school on Aotea.

This thinking pervades their direction and what they are as a business. Two things they are investing into significantly is the research and development attached to their products and flora, as well as sustaining a completely circular economy where waste is designed out. Building onto their existing solar farm, the operation of their facilities are completely carbon neutral, and their range of products has a minimal carbon footprint.
