AT A GLANCE

  • Gentle cream cleanser that effectively removes makeup & dirt
  • Suitable for normal/sensitive & acne-prone skin types

INTRODUCTION

A gentle cream cleanser that effectively cleans the skin and removes makeup. This cleanser combines two of New Zealand’s native flora, renowned for their gentle cleansing effect on the skin. It contains 100+ MGO mānuka honey that not only has antibacterial qualities, but also provides deeply moisturising and anti-inflammatory properties. The kūmarahou acts as a natural surfactant that works to clean the face without stripping the skin of its essential oils.

Handmade in small batches on Aotea. Product may vary slightly from batch to batch.

USAGE

Every morning and evening, dispense a tea spoon size of cleanser onto clean hands and gently massage the face and neck. Rinse off with water and a towel.

INGREDIENTS

Mānuka Water, Vegetable Glycerin, Emulsifier O, Naturguard Pure, Sweet Almond Oil, Kūmarahou Wash Base, 100+ MGO Mānuka Honey

DID YOU KNOW?

Aotea was founded in 2017. Inspired by mātauranga māori (māori knowledge), this knowledge manifests itself in their range of therapeutic skincare. Their namesake, Aotea, is the māori name for Great Barrier Island where they are from. It is there that they grow all the native flora that is used in Aotea’s range, extract the active compounds and use these healing extracts for the key tenants in their products.

Aotea has a commitment to their values and culture which are the pillars for their business. In light of which, they have elected — despite the difficulty — to manufacture the entire range of products on their papakāinga (land). This allows them to create jobs in their community. Further, they are proud to be providing scholarships to their rangatahi māori on Aotea to attend high schooling in Auckland, as there is no high school on Aotea.

This thinking pervades their direction and what they are as a business. Two things they are investing into significantly is the research and development attached to their products and flora, as well as sustaining a completely circular economy where waste is designed out. Building onto their existing solar farm, the operation of their facilities are completely carbon neutral, and their range of products has a minimal carbon footprint.
